Of Interest

OThe American Red Cross is a family and the service member during
times of crisis; helping the family and service member cope with problems created by separation.

OApproximately 50% of military forces are now in the National Guard or Reserves.

OThere are more women in the Reserves that in Active Service; 20% of Reservists called up to Active Duty are women.

OThere are more married couples who are simultaneously in the Reserves than dual career military couples.

O35,000 National Guard and Reserve members are on active duty, on any given day in 77 countries.

OThe majority of Reservists, when called up, get paid at their rank, regardless of their civilian salary. This can cause tremendous hardship on some families, especially if they are deployed for six months or more.

OThose in need of Red Cross AFES services are from the lowest ranking segment of the military population (E1-E4).
